Our Commercial Director, Callum Biscoe, recently joined Thomas Nagy on Fix Radio’s ‘The Electrical Show’ for a conversation about his journey through the electrical trade and what it really takes to build an electrical contracting business.
From qualifying and gaining experience on site to managing a growing team and taking on larger commercial projects, the episode covers plenty of the lessons Callum has picked up along the way.
One topic that came up in particular was the temptation to move straight into self employment as soon as you qualify.
While being your own boss can, understandably, be appealing, Callum spoke about the value of spending time working in the trade first. Those early years gave him the opportunity to learn from other people, understand how projects operate and gain experience of the parts of running a business that go well beyond electrical installation.
Callum also talks about how the business has evolved, from early projects through to the wider mix of commercial, education and healthcare work C&B delivers today.
