Cooper School Replacement Heating Equipment June 2026

Cooper School Replacement Heating Equipment

The Cooper school identified the need to replace ageing heating equipment serving its sports hall to improve reliability, comfort, and operational efficiency. The works involved the installation of two new Reznor warm air heaters, destratification fans, and a new control system to provide effective heating throughout the space.

Given the importance of the sports hall for scheduled examinations, the project was programmed and delivered within a tight time frame to ensure the facility remained available and fully operational for students and staff.

Project Overview

The project was designed to achieve the following objectives:

  • Replace existing heating equipment with modern, energy-efficient systems.
  • Improve heating performance and occupant comfort throughout the sports hall.
  • Enhance heat distribution by installing de-stratification fans.
  • Utilise existing gas infrastructure where possible due to electrical supply constraints on site.
  • Provide straightforward user control of the heating system.
  • Complete all works within the programme to support scheduled examinations.

The Challenge

The project was undertaken within a live educational environment where disruption to teaching, sporting activities, and examination schedules needed to be minimised.

The sports hall was required for upcoming examinations, creating a compressed programme for delivery. All works needed to be carefully planned and coordinated to ensure safe installation, commissioning, and handover within the available timeframe while maintaining compliance with health and safety requirements.

Objectives & Requirements

The project was designed to achieve the following objectives:

  • Replace existing heating equipment with modern, energy-efficient systems.
  • Improve heating performance and occupant comfort throughout the sports hall.
  • Enhance heat distribution by installing de-stratification fans.
  • Utilise existing gas infrastructure where possible due to electrical supply constraints on site.
  • Provide straightforward user control of the heating system.
  • Complete all works within the programme to support scheduled examinations.

Our Approach

Comprehensive planning was undertaken in conjunction with the school’s facilities team to ensure works could be completed safely and efficiently.  The installation programme was developed around the school’s operational requirements, with particular focus on meeting critical examination deadlines. Materials, labour, and specialist equipment were coordinated in advance to minimise programme risk and ensure smooth delivery.  All works were carried out in accordance with current industry standards and site-specific health and safety procedures.
