Community means a lot to us at C&B Electrical Contractors Ltd. Milton Keynes is where many of us grew up, built our business, and raised our families. So, when the chance came up to support Bletchley Amateur Boxing Club (BABC), it felt like the right thing to do.
BABC has been part of the local community for years. It’s a place where young people learn discipline, structure, and respect as they master the art of boxing.
The difference is plain to see. Some of the coaches started as kids in the club themselves, and now they’re giving that same guidance to the next generation.
When I first learned to box, Bletchley boxing club was a place to train, keep fit, and stay out of trouble but looking back, it taught me so much more. The discipline, respect, and sense of teamwork I learned in that gym have stayed with me ever since.
Many of those values guide how we run C&B today – showing up, working hard, and supporting each other. Being able to come back years later and support BABC now feels like closing the circle.
Supporting their journey to Sweden
As part of our sponsorship, we’re also helping the team travel to Sweden for the King of the Ring International Tournament, one of Europe’s biggest amateur boxing events.
It is a huge opportunity for them to test themselves against international talent, experience a new culture, and represent Milton Keynes on a global stage.
When we first heard about the trip, it struck a chord.
These are young athletes working hard either at school or in jobs and doing something positive with their time. We wanted to make sure money wasn’t the thing holding them back from that experience.
Why this matters to us
So why does it matter? Well, we often talk about social value, how businesses can give back to their communities.
For me, that’s not just a box to tick on a tender document, it’s about doing something that genuinely makes a difference close to home.
Supporting Bletchley Amateur Boxing Club is a practical way of helping a grassroots organisation that’s already changing lives. Every time I visit the gym, I see the energy and focus those young boxers bring. They’re proud of what they do, and rightly so.
Giving something back
Running a local business gives you a sense of responsibility. We’ve had opportunities and support over the years, and we believe it’s important to pass that on where we can.
Helping BABC felt like a simple way to do that, to invest in something that benefits real people, right here in Milton Keynes.
We are following these youngsters’ progress closely in Sweden, and we couldn’t be prouder to have our name associated with such a dedicated group.
To everyone at Bletchley Amateur Boxing Club, good luck, and thank you for inspiring so many in our community.
