Bletchley Boxing Club marked a remarkable milestone on Sunday, 17th May, celebrating its 20th anniversary with a memorable event at the Leonardo Hotel in Milton Keynes.
Hosted by Bletchley’s Amateur Boxing club CEO Kevin McCarthy, Manager Sadie Whiteland, and their dedicated team of coaches, the celebration brought together supporters, sponsors, and members past and present for a fitting tribute to two decades of commitment, achievement, and community spirit.
Guests enjoyed a delicious three-course lunch before the boxing began, setting the tone for an exciting afternoon of competition. The event featured a total of sixteen bouts, showcasing talented fighters aged 11 to 28. Each contest reflected the discipline, determination, and sportsmanship that define Bletchley Boxing Club.
One of the standout moments of the day saw Bletchley’s own German Dubs take home Best Bout of the Night, delivering an impressive and composed performance against Harley Gray of Gateway ABC in a fiercely contested match.
Another unforgettable highlight came from the young George Cole, who brought the crowd to its feet with a superb display to secure the prestigious ‘Dean Saunders Best Boxer of the night’ belt. His reaction said it all, he was delighted with the win.
Even for those new to the sport, it was impossible not to appreciate the intensity and resilience on display. Across three rounds, every boxer gave their all, contributing to an event that was professionally delivered in every detail. From referees and adjudicators from Sport England to the medical team, whose time and expertise ensured the event ran safely and smoothly, the standard throughout was exceptional.
C&B Electrical Contractors, long-time supporters of the club, were proud to be part of the celebrations. The partnership holds particular significance through Director Callum Biscoe, whose connection to the club goes back to his teenage years. His enduring relationship with Bletchley Boxing Club continues to strengthen the bond between the organisation and its sponsors.
The anniversary event was a true celebration of the club’s legacy, its people, and its future, an inspiring reminder of the powerful role boxing plays within the community.
